Larrie’s & The Beach Hotel are proud to support Few for Shoe in loving memory of Liam Schumacher, known affectionately as Shoey, who tragically lost his battle with mental health.
Liam’s passion for surfing was palpable, it was more than just a pastime, but a deeply ingrained part of his identity and spirit. Through Few for Shoe, we’re paying tribute to Liam’s love for the ocean and his fearless zest for life. Liam was a beacon of individuality, unapologetically embracing his true self and marching to the beat of his own drum. His fondness for riding single fins, even when the trend wasn’t, speaks to his unconventional nature.
The loss of a legendary surfer, husband, friend & father in May of 2023, shook our community to its core and created an absence that will never be filled. Yet, from this tragedy emerged a collective determination to confront the mental health challenges that claimed his life.
This loss inspired a passion project, Few for Shoe, with a mission of sparing others from the anguish and despair. Few for Shoe champions Liams love of the ocean through their tag-team surfing event, set to take place at Dixon park on October 5th. It’s more than just a day in the surf; it’s about bringing together the community and encouraging the discussion of mental health through connection.
Proceeds will fund Talk2mebro’s ASSIST training and safetalk programs, empowering the community with relevant suicide prevention skills.
