We had a chat with Bag Raiders, the Aussie duo comprised of Jack Glass and Chris Stracey, before their headline gig for our NYE bash.
Bag Raiders have been (shooting) stars in the Aussie music industry for over a decade. The dynamic duo are locked and loaded with hits old and new, and are set to bring maximum thrills to the TBH dance floor.
Scroll to have a peak at our chat – from Troye Sivan kicking off his set with their remix, to DJing on top of a snowy mountain in NZ. They let us in on what’s been on their high rotation, their go-to pre-gig rituals (coconut water and push-ups, naturally), and their thoughts on the Aussie music industry. With their love for beaches, a good boogie, and coconut water, our NYE party will be one for the books. So, grab your mates and get geared up to send off 2024 in true Beaches style.
TBH TEN
Why are you excited to wrap up the year at The Beaches?
It’s been a big year, lots of shows all over the planet! We love beaches, we love DJing, we love it when those two go hand in hand, AND we love it when all the hard work is done so we get to let loose and get a bit of a boogie on. I think this one is gonna be a lot of fun!
What’s been your biggest “pinch-me” moment of 2024?
There’s two standouts; one was watching Troye Sivan live and hearing that he opened his set with our remix of “Got me started” before launching into the tune. Definitely a big moment. It was great to see the crowd reaction too! The other one is looking over, when we were DJing at Ability Fest, and saw the boys from OneFour side of stage catching the end of our set. Huge!
What artists are you expecting at the top of your Spotify wrapped this year?
Probably OneFour actually hahaha…or Claude Debussy. Could go either way really! Vegyn and HeadAche for sure, Glorilla probably going to get a spot. Placid Angles likely to hit it too.
Where do you go to find/seek inspiration?
Everything! Food, travel, swimming, showering, going to a really good show. Digging through childhood memories and the music I used to listen to on the bus. Sometimes also just going through sounds on a synthesiser, something about the sound will speak to me and tell me what kind of riff to play.
High rotation – What album are you vibing right now?
Glorious by Glorilla getting a huge shine right now from me!
Tell us a little about how you like to warm up before a gig?
Probably do some push-ups and drink a coconut water.
What drink is your go-to when you go out?
Coconut water haha…love the occasional cold beer though after a hard earned thirst!
High, low, ha – what’s your highest moment, lowest and the funniest from 2024?
High was probably when we DJed on top of a mountain in the ski fields of NZ. I think it was about 2300m (sorry). Low was probably when I was on a massive hike and lost my car keys somewhere on this mountain. I ended up doing it twice and looking for my keys the second time round… I didn’t find them (of course it was the spare). Funniest… I couldn’t tell you. There’s definitely moments of silliness on tour when we are both delirious from traveling through too many timezones too quickly, and something funny happens and we lose it way more than we should. Can’t think of a specific example right now though, it’s all a blur!
Something most people don’t know about the Aussie music industry?
It is like a beautiful flower, it needs watering. If you don’t support it, it will actually likely disappear. So we are always happy when we see people putting on great events.
Summer Holiday spot – where are you going and what are you doing?
Definitely by a beach, and doing absolutely nothing!
